If you make it idiot proof, they will just make a better idiot.

He's not dispelling creationism, just the notion that God didn't create the world 6,000 years ago.

That's true... but that is one of the bigger points. But his notions on science would seem to indicate that you shouldn't deny the evidence for evolution (although that is not specifically stated). Either way I'm still shocked. :P

^ I'm shocked too, but there are plenty of Christians out there that don't believe the Earth is 6,000 years old. The 6,000 year old planet idea is not a biblical idea. It was first proposed by Bishop Ussher around 1650, who said the date of creation was 4004 BC. Ussher didn't come to this conclusion through analysis of the bible exclusively. It was a combination of his study of ancient history, astronomy, and the bible. So, it's not one of the bigger points of Christianity, but a point made by Ussher that was accepted by many Christians. Does that make sense? I know I'm splitting hairs, but there is a difference.

As far as evolution is concerned, ol' Pat has definitely backed himself into a corner here. If he's going to accept the existence of dinosaurs because of fossil evidence (which indicates the time period in which they lived), he can't deny the existence of creatures that had both ape-like and human-like features that preceded homo sapiens (which represent a transition in human evolution) because we have fossil evidence of their existence as well. Hell.. Pat even mentions Lucy, but incorrectly calls her Susie.

Pat Robertson said something sensible?
What kind of crazy world has this become?
I'm frightened!

The Mayans did say the world was going to end in 2012....

On a serious note, I have a book that my friend gave me (actually he gave me two) that has a Christian scientist's perspective on creationism and evolution and his thoughts on the two. It opened up my eyes more than the typical debates we have here. In fact I'll post both, it doesn't change my mind.....yet, on the full on theory of evolution but they both helped me raise some very interesting questions that I have not had time to find answers to yet.

The Language of God by Francis S. Collins <----Christian Scientist

and

Your Inner Fish by Neil Shubin <----- Not sure on religous stance

Both are great and I will say I was more intrigued by "Your Inner Fish" than the other one.

Porn only becomes boring after you've watched too much of it. Then you move on to a different type you haven't seen before, and again, and again, and again... That's how people get into midgets and/or donkeys. Or feet.
