I saw another video not long ago of something similar. It was a platform powered by several bladed drone-type rotors and it was a short test flight over a lake with a large crowd watching. It looked authentic and I had no reason to doubt it being real.

There is also video of a Guinness World record "longest hoverboard flight" on YouTube of the same guy and board.

The one in this video seems to be using some sort of jet propulsion, based on visual exhaust trail below the board. That does seem a little less feasible and less believable. Hard to say for certain though.

That's interesting and very cool, but I doubt we'll ever see stuff like that being made legal for the average person to use however they wish in our lifetimes. At best it will be like owning and/or operating a helicopter, very regulated and expensive and restricted in its operation. It's a lot different than the tethered water toy they made before.
